Two Cats. One Good Spot.

In a house with more than one cat, there's usually one place everybody wants. The warm chair by the window. The top of the couch. Whoever gets there first holds it, and the other one waits.

Most of that stops being an issue when each cat has a spot that's already hers. Not a shared bed they take turns on, but a surface she's scratched and rubbed and put her own scent into, so it reads as hers before she even gets in it.

Most cats don't take to it on day 1. She'll come over, smell it, and walk off. That's normal, and it's the point where people give up and go back to buying posts.

Which Size?

Go by how she sleeps, not just what she weighs.

16.5" wide, under 15 lbs. Right for most cats. Fits a curled-up sleeper with room to hang a paw over the edge.

19" wide, 15 to 31 lbs. For bigger cats, long breeds like Maine Coons and Ragdolls, or any cat who sleeps stretched out instead of curled.

Between sizes, or she's a sprawler? Take the 19". Nobody has ever complained theirs was too roomy.

What if my cat doesn't use it? +

Give her 2 weeks. Most cats sniff it once on day 1 and walk off, then start choosing it on their own around day 3. It has to pick up her scent before it means anything to her.

What is Territory Nest made from? +

Undyed, unsealed cotton and linen rope, braided by hand. No coating, no dye, nothing between the fiber and her paws. The same weave forms the sleeping center, the raised wall, and the scratchable outer rim, and there's a rope ball attached to the edge.

Which size should I get? +

The 16.5" suits most cats under 15 lbs who sleep curled up. The 19" is for bigger cats, long breeds like Maine Coons and Ragdolls, or any cat who sleeps stretched out.

If you're between sizes, take the larger one.

Is it suitable for kittens and older cats? +

Yes. The walls are low enough to step over, so kittens and seniors can get in and out easily. If your cat is a determined chewer, keep an eye on the rope ball the same way you would with any string toy.

Will she get too warm in it? +

No. The open weave lets air through, which is the opposite of a thick padded bed. In winter, most people drop a folded blanket in the center.

Will it help a nervous cat settle? +

A lot of cats settle better once they have one spot they've claimed. The raised walls give her cover on all sides while she can still watch the room, and the rope holds the scent she leaves on it.

Put it somewhere she already likes to sit rather than somewhere new. If her behavior has changed suddenly, that's worth a conversation with your vet.

Will it hold up to daily scratching? +

It's braided by hand rather than glued or stapled, so it takes claws without shredding the way cardboard does. It'll darken and compress around the rim where she works it most. That's normal wear and it's part of why she keeps going back to it.

Will it look alright in my living room? +
